Creating a file/folder text listing in Windows

Creating a file list to send others in Windows. Have you ever (like me) wanted to send someone a list of files in a folder or a list of folders on a drive? (in Windows, but you were stifled by Windows' lack of ability to perform that function?) Well, laydeez and gennulmen, SUFFER NO MORE!

I followed these SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS and created the ability to do such in my Windows operating system in about 3 minutes, which included reading the instructions. Why the Microsoft overlords would fail to put such in the operating system is beyond me...but now it can be done.

Bach to the computer

This is the best computer visualization aid I've ever seen for music. As soon as you click to play it, immediately click on the HQ "button" and the "full screen" "button". It is quite a display. The particular piece involved in this demonstration is Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" for organ.

Wonder where the yellow went?

If you have old plastic-cased computers/monitors/printers/cassette recorders/etc. that used to be white and now are some drenched yellow color, this detailed solution may be for you. If you are in the U.S., like I am, you will have to find the appropriate similar products. But the fellow gives enough details that it does not sound like it will be too difficult to do so.

After brief reflection, I agree with the sentiments of this article.

There are folks who will argue till the cows come home (and keep arguing until they leave in the morning) about this topic. Of course, there are people around who simply will argue forever about just anything. Most of them are called lawyers or engineers.

But, just like our forebears argued about Chevys versus Buicks versus Fords, we of the 21st century argue computers and software. Since software has to have an operating system, as does the computer, these are BIG topics of discussion.

Home automation

Here is one fellow's state of home automation control about 10 years ago!

I started with the X-10 standalone controller in about 1986. It was even before I owned an IBM PC, so I had to take the controller with me to work when I wanted to modify the standing program to control front and back porch lights, lamps scattered about my bachelor pad to make it look lived in when I was away. Here is what the humble CP-290 controller looked and looks like.

I still own it, but haven't run it in several years. Maybe it is about time to dust off the device.
